Miss Newcastle’s very own Miss Photogenic

“As a shy person with very little confidence, I found the pageant really changed me a lot and helped me to build up my confidence.”

As an introvert, being a contestant for Miss Newcastle 2016 was a daunting experience for Nicole de Robillard.

In fact, the 19-year-old woman who is pursuing a career in teaching, never envisioned herself leaving her horse and saddle for two months in order to participate in a beauty pageant.

“I didn’t even enter. Jessica Reineke entered me into Miss Newcastle, so it is needless to say I was totally out of my comfort zone and didn’t expect to win anything at all,” she laughed.

Nicole clinched the title of Miss Photogenic, with her dazzling smile and bubbling personality.

As Miss Photogenic, Nicole is the very embodiment of picture perfect.

However, after being crowned as Miss Photogenic at the Miss Newcastle 2016 awards ceremony, Nicole said she she doubted she would ever strut down the ramp of a beauty pageant again.

“I will strongly encourage other young women to participate, as it does wonders for their self esteem. It is just not who I am, although I am proud of my title.”

Although overwhelming, Nicole said she found the experience very educational.

“As a shy person with very little confidence, I found the pageant really changed me a lot and helped me to build up my confidence.”

Looking back at the past two months, Nicole said none of it would have been possible without her supporters.

“The great support and encouragement of my sponsors from AIDA Newcastle made things much easier. It’s always lovely to be supported by a kind and loving group of people.”

Looking to the future, her eyes focused on her career, Nicole said while she was currently working for a pre-school, she would eventually like to teach at a primary school and help guide the way for the leaders of tomorrow.
