Three times a winner

Newcastle beaut, Charné Rodgers hit the jackpot at the Miss Newcastle 2016 pageant.
Scooping the Miss Reader’s Choice and FTM Ramp Model awards, as well as being crowned First Princess, was an unexpected surprise, she was not expecting.
“I was not really paying much attention when they called my name, so it took me a while to realise I had won these awards, but I was happy and just couldn’t stop smiling.”
Charnè thought the fact that she had been a contestant in Miss Newcastle 2015, gave her the confidence to grow in this year’s pageant. She said the support she received form family, friends and members of the community, contributed hugely to her success this year.
She described her relationship with fellow beauty contestants as an experience of a lifetime.
“Every girl had their own personality, which made it very easy to make friends with them. The fact that my cousin was also a part of Miss Newcastle, made the process easier for me as well, as I did not have to do it all on my own.”
Charnè’s greatest role model in life is her mother, as she taught her the life values she holds near to her heart.
“She raised me to be as lady-like as possible. I would have to say if I could be like anyone, I would want to be like my mom.”
She described her journey over these last few weeks as nothing short of fun, but also challenging at times, and an experience she would never trade for anything.
“The late nights spent with these wonderful people made this experience so much better.”
Charnè thanked Christine and Robert Harburn, her sponsor, all her friends and family and the other contestants for their support and for voting for her throughout the competition.”I wouldn’t have been able to do this without them,” she concluded.
