A female carrying packages that looked suspicious piqued police officers’ interest on Friday morning.

The officers who are part of the Amangwe Visible Policing unit were busy with their routine patrols when they noticed the woman and her suspicious-looking parcels.

Police approached the woman and requested a search of the packages. This was when they discovered 9.6 kgs of loose dagga, which has a street value of R12 000.

The 45-year-old woman was arrested and charged for being in possession of dagga. She made an appearance in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday, May 16.
