NKZN Youth Choir and Corlea Botha set the pace for a musical night

Instead of raising the membership fees of choristers, income from the performance will enable the 65 choir members to perform at three choir festivals during the course of the year.

Angelic voices of the Northern KwaZulu-Natal (NKZN) Youth Choir kept its audience spellbound at Ferrum High School on Friday evening.

After the choir’s performance, popular Afrikaans singer, Corlea Botha, showcased her unique voice, concluding the night on a high note.

While guests enjoyed an evening of musical delight, the purpose of the evening was to raise funds for the choir.

“The funds raised at the show will help keep the children in the choir, as it is costly,” said choir conductor, Ricka Willemse.

Instead of raising the membership fees of choristers, income from the performance will enable the 65 choir members to perform at three choir festivals during the course of the year.

“Two highlights of the year will be in August, when the NKZN Youth Choir will be performing with the Midlands Choir and KZN choir groups,” said Mrs Willemse.

In anticipation of the upcoming events, the choir will perform at the Newcastle Choir Concert on July 31.

The fund-raising initiative was well-supported by the community, and the choir is set to do the region proud.
