Community patrollers instrumental in arrest of suspected burglar
A 23-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of housebreaking implements
A man was arrested in the Hillside area in the early hours of Friday morning after members of the Hillside Community Policing Forum happened upon four men walking up Calcutta Road.
The four men were unaware that Hillside Community Policing Forum members were busy with patrols in the area.
When the patrollers turned onto the road, the men began to run. This made them suspicious, so they followed the men while calling for help.
The men ran into a bushy area in Elm Street, where Ladysmith K9 Unit officers and NN Alarms security officers rushed to the assistance of the patrollers.
A 23-year-old suspect was later arrested after he was found in possession of housebreaking implements.
He will appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today.
