Father in court on charges of murdering his young children

A 33-year-old father is expected to appear today in the Ladysmith Magistrates Court for killing his children aged four and six.
In a gruesome story that has shocked the area, it is alleged that the man arrived at his former girlfriend’s home at about 8pm on May 30 in the Gudlintaba area of St Chads, Ladysmith. When he arrived, he found the kids sleeping and killed them. He stabbed the kids in the neck and stomach before fleeing the scene. When the mother and grandmother returned from hiding they found Bongukwenza Mlungiseni Mdladla (4) and Thandiwe Lusanda Madladla (6) dead. The matter was reported to the police and a search was launched for the suspect. Yesterday the Ladysmith police arrested the suspect in the Ladysmith business area and is facing two counts of murder.
KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bhekinkosi Langa, commended the members for arrested the suspect. “It is sad that people who are expected to protect and love their children are the ones charged with murder. We are pleased that the suspect was arrested and will face the law, we hope that justice will prevail and the children’s hope brought back especially during this youth month as the suspect destroyed the future of this country ” he said.
