Mondlo road issues not settled

IT HAS been two years since the Mondlo community wrote a letter to AbaQulusi Municipality requesting a community grader, which would help repair the roads in the area.
In the two years since the letter was written, not only has AbaQulusi not allocated a grader to Emondlo, no response whatsoever was given to community members as to whether their streets would be fixed or not.
Countless meetings were held last year between the Mondlo Residents Association board and council members and even these seemed to not go anywhere as the mayor and various municipal departments that needed to answer to the community were not present at these meetings.
The residents association’s main concern is the main road used by buses in Mondlo.
“The road is now just gravel with patches of tar,” said Enock Mdlalose who is a member of the association.
Board members believe that the state of the roads is beyond appalling and is an accident waiting to happen.
The Vryheid Herald contacted the AbaQulusi Municipality with regards to the matter and is currently awaiting response.
