Police worked until the early hours of the morning looking for the armed who attacked and shot and wounded the Goettsch brothers on their farm, Wild Duck Vlei near Hattingspruit, at around 8pm last night.

Arnold Goettsch was taken to hospital suffering a gunshot wound in the face and stomach.  His brother, Alko, was shot in the leg.

The robbers made off in Arnold’s new Hi-Lux vehicle,  NGL 3768. Farmers and security companies assisted police in searching for the attackers but at this stage, there has been no trace of the men or the stolen vehicle.

The Goettsch family were famous for making Dutch-style cheese on their farm – a practice which they stopped some years ago.  Alko is known for his preference for traditional Dutch clogs when coming into town.
