Mayor proudly scoops his fourth excellence award

NEWCASTLE – For the fourth time, Mayor, Afzul Rehman is KwaZulu-Natal’s best performing mayor.

He was honoured at the Municipal Excellence Awards recently, and received special accolades for winning the prize four years on the trot.
Cllr Rehman felt this honour was a culmination of his time in office.
“I am proud to have led this municipality for seven years, and these awards are just proof that I have tried my best to serve the community with distinction.”
The secret to Cllr Rehman’s success is attributed in part to community participation.

He said the majority of residents were satisfied with how he interacted with them, be it face-to-face, over the phone or through social media. Part of the award was also based on innovative, out of the box decisions made by the municipality.
