The murder case against two men accused of killing a man they allegedly suspected of breaking into a Glencoe hostel has been postponed for DNA results.

Lloyd Kgotshane (39), chairperson of the uMzinyathi District Community Police Forum, and Sandile Thole (29), a hostel cleaner, appeared in the Glencoe Magistrate’s Court this morning.

The matter was postponed to September 29, with prosecutor Langa telling the court that detectives are still awaiting DNA results from evidence secured during the investigation.

The pair are charged with the murder of a man identified at this stage only as Mncube.

Mncube’s body was discovered in a field near Celle Street, on the road to the Glencoe dumping site, on June 23.

Accused allegedly linked victim to hostel theft

It is alleged that the deceased had been accused of stealing duvets from a Glencoe hostel managed by Kgotshane, where Thole worked as a cleaner.

Kgotshane and Thole were previously granted R2,000 bail each.

Thole is also facing unrelated assault charges.

Magistrate Khubeka extended the accused’s bail conditions pending their next court appearance.

The matter remains before the court, and the accused have not pleaded guilty to the murder charge.
