Pregnant woman stabs herself in the stomach
It is believed that her boyfriend was with her at the time
A pregnant woman attempted to commit suicide this morning (Friday) by stabbing herself in the stomach in Murchison Street.
The woman, believed to be in her early 20s, was walking along the street when she suddenly stabbed herself in the upper area of her abdomen.
It is believed that her boyfriend was with her at the time. It is unknown why she decided to stab herself in the middle of the street.
Members of the public raised the alarm by contacting emergency services.
Horrified bystanders could do nothing but watch as blood and other fluids poured out of the woman’s stomach.
Sharaj Ambulance Services responded to the scene. When paramedics arrived, they found the woman in a standing position. She was stabilised before being transported to hospital.
A source at the hospital confirmed that the woman and her unborn child both survived and are doing well.
