SANCA fights the scourge of drug abuse
There is a new substance children are apparently experimenting with.
Children as young as seven years old are using drugs.
Scary as this might be, Lillian Gajoo, SANCA counsellor, said this was part of a massive problem the organisation faced during school holidays.

“We have noticed there is an increase in drug usage every school holiday, with the most popular drugs being CAT and dagga.”
Mrs Gajoo said dagga remained popular among the youth as it was readily affordable.
However, there is a new substance children are apparently experimenting with.
“Children are taking cough mixture and mixing it with energy drinks to get a high.”

In an attempt to address the escalating drug abuse, Mrs Gajoo held a drug awareness campaign on Tuesday, June 28, at the SANCA offices.
Meeting with students studying home-based care, and the Siyakumisa Gospel Group from the Methodist Church, Mrs Gajoo discussed the dangers of drug abuse and gave tips how to spot a drug user.
By equipping the youth with knowledge on substance abuse, Mrs Gajoo hoped to minimise the social scourge.
