Endless sewer problems in Lucknow Road

People are faced with endless sewage and dumping problems in Lucknow Road. The vacant land can no longer absorb any more sewer water and the raw effluent is now pushing into the road.
IFP councillor Abbas Warasally has on numerous occasions contacted uThukela regarding this problem, but nothing has been done to remedy the stinky and messy situation.

People feel sick just walking down the road, because they say the standing water looks revolting and a horrible stench hangs in the air as a result of the constant illegal dumping that also takes place.
This vacant plot of land, which has turned into a sewer swamp over the years, is not even 50 metres away from school buildings, posing a hazard to schoolchildren in the area.
Pupils have complained to Cllr Warasally that they cannot stand the sight and the smell. They add that they have to walk carefully in the road so as not to step in the putrid water while on their way to and from school.
“I am very disappointed that uThukela have not taken charge and fixed this problem that has been going on far too long. This should be a main priority,” commented Cllr Warasally.
