The stop-and-go sign on the Wasbank/Elandslaagte road is being used by criminals to rob motorists.
A Glencoe man and his assistant were held at gun point by two men and robbed of R18 000, cellphones and other belongings.
They were returning from Ladysmith after making a delivery and collecting cash for a local business when they were stopped at the sign at around 2.30pm on Thursday.
Two men got out of a white Nissan Sentra, that did not have number plates, and appeared as if they were going to urinate at the side of the road, while the driver of the Sentra remained in the vehicle.

However, the two men suddenly approached the bakkie with firearms pointing at the Glencoe man’s bakkie. They pushed him and his assistant aside and drove the bakkie to somewhere near Wasbank.

They were in constant cellphone contact with the man in the Sentra.

They tied their hands with cable ties and robbed them of cash and their belongings. The men left their two victims tied up in the back of the bakkie while the Sentra arrived to pick up the two men.

Later, the driver and his assistant freed themselves and manage to call for help. Motorists are urged to be extra vigilant when approaching the stop-and-go sign.
