Nhanhla visits her home town

HAVING already started designing pieces for huge names such as famous South African model and entertainer, Refilwe Modiselle, Vryheid-born designer, Nhanhla Kunene, is well on her way to the top of the fashion designing world.

This seamstress set up a pop-up shop for her brand Sketi-Skirts for the first time in Vryheid on Saturday, July 30.
Nhanhla said that she has always been a designer at heart and made her very first skirt for a friend when she was just 10 years-old.

“Although I started the brand quite a long time ago, the official launch was in 2014,” says this bubbly couturier.
She has had her fingers in quite a few pies, working on television, as well as being a Love Life consultant, but her love for the craft has always been dominant.

“I went corporate as a data analyst but just couldn’t resist my passion for fashion so I left that field and started my own business,” she said.

Fashion lovers went out in numbers to see and buy some of Nhanhla’s pieces.
