NRS hosts public- speaking competition

OUR annual public-speaking competition took place on Thursday evening, July 28.

Twelve brave Gr 7 learners participated in this prestigious event, speaking on the topic “Rainbow people – Rainbow land”. The learners put a lot of effort into this thought-provoking topic and it would have done our politicians good to hear what these young people think and how they perceive things. Well done to each and every participant – you truly excelled!

The unprepared talk was very topical. The top six speakers had to discuss the International Olympic Committee’s banning of Russian athletes from the Olympic Games, due to their use of banned substances.

Some interesting thoughts were highlighted. The ultimate winner of the James Schnetler trophy was Tayibah Kathrada, with Muskaan Patel and Bandile Ngcobo being second and third respectively.

Our sincere thanks to Mrs M. van der Nest and Mrs J. Shand for giving up their time to adjudicate our learners.

Konsert: NRS se kinders is tans hard aan die oefen vir ons konsert, “Flashbacks and Fantasy”, wat van 19 tot 23 September op die planke gebring word. Die publiek word hartlik uitgenooi om saam met ons terug te reis na grepe uit gewilde Walt Disney-flieks. Kaartjies vir die aandvertonings is by die kantoor beskikbaar teen R50 per persoon.
