Our Brad secures slot in 50m freestyle finals

Going for gold #TeamBrad

The 50m freestyle swimming event at the Olympic Games being held in Rio, saw Ladysmith’s own Brad Tandy smash his way through to the finals to be held on Saturday.

Brad will now be competing for a medal in one of the toughest swimming events there is.

Brad secured his slot by competing in qualifying heats on Thursday evening with a time of 21.94, the 12th fastest out of over 90 competitors. He then competed in the semi-finals, finishing 3rd in his race in a time of 21.80.  The fastest swimmer in the semis was France’s Florent Manaudou with a time of 21.32.

Brad will have to dig deep to win, but we have faith in him!
