Obituary: Gordon James Collins

He met his wife, Ethné Lazenby, at the railway hall in Glencoe and they married in June 1958.

Gordon James Collins passed away on the morning of July 26 after a long struggle suffering from emphysema.
He was 84 and had lived most of his life in Glencoe and Dundee before moving to Ladysmith in 2005 to be closer to his eldest daughter and family.
He met his wife, Ethné Lazenby, at the railway hall in Glencoe and they married in June 1958.
Gordon worked at the NPA in Dundee and then as a contract plumber. He will be solemnly missed by many for his jovial laughs, jokes, poems and tricks.
The couple were involved in the Bowling Club for many years and attended the Dundee Methodist church.
The family is grateful that his Dundee Methodist minister, Andre du Plooy, was able to perform his funeral service. Gordon is survived by his wife, three siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
