Lasec girls empowered at workshop
It was a day that truly inspired the young learners to play their part in advancing the roles of women in society
August 9 marks a significant day in history and the girls at Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) know this.
Being Woman’s Day, it is dedicated to all the women who have struggled to bring about change and equality in South Africa.
In keeping with the theme of ‘Woman’s Month’, Ladysmith Secondary School held its annual ‘Lasec Girl Empowerment Workshop’ on Tuesday, August 2, at White Mountain Resort in Giants Castle.
32 inspired young girls participated in a two-part activities day consisting of a power-packed conference and a 30-metre zip-line across the Drakensberg mountains.
The conference consisted of a motivational talk by practicing attorney and certified mediator Miss Ugeeta Pala, beadwork activities by retired educators Miss TB Mazibuko and Mrs T Ndaba, and general healthcare talks by professional Primary Healthcare nurses at Ladysmith Provincial Hospital.
It was an empowering day that truly inspired the young learners to play their part in advancing the roles of women in society.
