THE NRS children are busy practising for our big, bi-annual concert, ‘Flashbacks and Fantasy,’ where we have mass participation.
Everybody is very excited about their costumes and they can’t wait to perform their dances during the week of September 19 to 23. The public of Vryheid is invited to come and watch the evening performances. Tickets are available at the school office at R50 per person.
Athletics: Our u/9 to u/14 children are also looking forward to the athletics meeting this coming Thursday and Friday at Vryheid High School, where again we will have mass participation. The idea is that every child will take part in as many events as he/she qualifies for and learn to do their best for their team.
Cricket: Our u/13 cricket team travelled to Lüneburg to take part in a 7’s tournament from August 19 to 20. They won two of the three matches that they played and thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. Our best batsman was Leo Mattison and our best bowler Owen Morgenrood.
Soccer: Last weekend, two of our soccer teams participated in the Glencoe Soccer Tournament. The u/13 team played four games, of which they won three. Eventually they were placed second for scoring the most goals. The u/11 team played six games, of which they lost four and drew two. It was a well organised tournament that our boys enjoyed very much.
Dates to remember: August 25-26 – Athletics meeting at VHS, August 27-28 – u/12 Sevens Rugby Tournament at Michaelhouse, September 1 – Gr 7 Entrepreneur’s Day, September 2 – Spring walk/Fundraiser.
