Locals compete in Clivia competition

LOCAL Clivia enthusiasts recently travelled to Newcastle to display their wares at the Newcastle Clivia Show.

Ben van Niekerk received a gold medal, as well as two silver and four bronze for his floral entries in the show, while Louis Lotter’s phenomenal flora earned him a total of nine medals: six gold, two silver and one bronze. Lotter’s Interspecific Clivia, named ‘Golden Eye,’ was also judged “Second Best on Show.”

Fans of these prized plants, which have been known to fetch a pretty penny, are reminded of the Annual Clivia Show as well as the Miss Clivia Pageant and the Farmers’ Market, which will take place on Saturday morning from 9am at New Republic Primary School.
