Cops confirm – no drugs found at PHS

“The field out there is so competitive,” states Hoërskool Pionier Headmaster, Riaan Muller, “but if you want to be competitive, do it legally and fairly.”

This statement comes in the wake of recent allegations of drug busts and doping scandals at the school.

Rumours once again surfaced of a “raid” that was carried out at the school by police last Friday. The school maintains that this was a routine inspection and that nothing nefarious was afoot, as Vryheid SAPS and the K9 Unit carried out a spot check on the premises, at the request of the Principal and the SGB, according to local law enforcement.

“The hostel has inspections every day,” reports Muller. “Schools are motivated by the Department of Education to be free of drugs and weapons.”

“We know what is right and we have nothing to hide,” he added. “We stand fast for what is right and strive to keep going in that direction.”

“According to my knowledge, nothing was found,” confirmed Captain Gary Stride of the Vryheid K9 Unit.

Muller further maintained that the school stands firmly against substance abuse, “No child will represent our school in sport if found to be using drugs or steroids. If any of our pupils are found to be using drugs, they will be withdrawn from all sports teams with immediate effect.”
