What to do in weather like this?

One of the best ways to keep busy during a rainy day is to cook...

Gloomy weather can ruin even the cheeriest moods. Some may be enjoying the cold and wet weekend Ladysmith is experiencing, but there are definitely some who are not.

That said, here is a list of family activities to keep you occupied on a day when going outside is out of the question:

* Camp Indoors- Who says tents have to stay outside? If you have a pop-up or small dome tent, it’s easy to set up camp for your kids indoors. If not, you can create tents by draping sheets over the couch. Make them comfy with airbeds, pillows and sleeping bags, then follow through with an indoor picnic to be eaten “under canvas”.

* Cook something- One of the best ways to keep busy during a rainy day is to cook. This keeps you busy and lets you use some of those ingredients in your pantry you’ve been wanting to try. The best part is that you end up with a tasty result at the end that everyone can enjoy!

* Get crafty- Pull out your craft supplies and get creative. Decorate pine cones, make hand puppets, draw pictures, make leaf collages and use felt pieces to make a picture story. The only limit is your imagination.

* Have a treasure hunt- Set up a series of clues throughout the house. Have each clue lead to the next. This keeps the kids busy as they work towards finding the treasure. The treasure can be a toy, a treat, a fun activity or a small reward, you decide.
