Outrage at sewage leak as pipe bursts yet again
The most recent pipe burst was about three days ago, which residents say has not been fixed yet
Limit Hill residents are fuming because of ongoing sewage woes in Second Avenue.
Numerous complaints have been laid with uThukela District Municipality, and stories run both in the Ladysmith Gazette and online concerning a pipe that continues to burst, resulting in sewage pouring out of a manhole in the area.
The most recent pipe burst was about three days ago, which residents say has not been fixed yet. This has led furious Limit Hill residents to say that the municipality is incompetent and cannot do their job properly.
Motorists and pedestrians have to deal with the disgusting sight and smell as raw effluent spills out onto the road.
“It’s been almost three days since the pipe burst again and the municipality have not bothered to send workers to fix it. This is unacceptable; why can’t they repair the pipe once and for all so we can all live in peace without having to block our noses because of the stench or make sure we don’t step in the putrid sewer water,” said one resident.
Outraged residents urge uThukela to come and fix the pipe pronto, as they say it is not only an eyesore, not to mention the terrible smell, but it is also a health hazard for those living in the area.
