Drought relief for Nquthu creches

Eskom employees dug into the pockets to help needy kids in the rural areas

Eskom employees raised funds and bought water to distribute to drought stricken communities, a gesture the drought-stricken teachers at 3 Nquthu area creches.

It was a beautiful surprise for the children when Eskom, led by Zinhle Mnguni handed over 5 litre water bottles to:
– 70 children at Zamani Creche in Nondweni,
– 27 children at Qalahle Creche in Dedeni and
– 47 children at Vezuthando Creche in Nquthu.

The gesture, which encapsulates one of the Eskom Values of Sinebuntu (We care), was witnessed by the teachers, who thanked the employees for sparing thoughts for those less fortunate.

It was also an opportunity to educate the children on the safe usage of electricity.

“Eskom appreciates the thoughtfulness of its employees. They have shown that they are true guardians who care about living the values of Eskom and assist wherever they can to ensure the upliftment of communities,” said Joyce Zingoni, Eskom Communications and Stakeholder Manager (KZN).
