3 men killed in deadly home attack near Ladysmith

They were riddled with bullets and died instantly

Three men were brutally slaughtered on Monday night (October 10) in a deadly ambush in the Emcitsheni area of Ezakheni, close to Ladysmith.

A large, heavily-armed group of gunmen attacked a house in the area. The victims – aged 18, 22 and 23 – were in the house when the men burst in and opened fire.

They were riddled with bullets and died instantly.

Ezakheni detectives are investigating a case of murder.  The deceased have not yet been officially identified.

In the last week alone, at least five men have been brutally gunned down.

On Wednesday night, Mpumelelo ‘Mpume’ Mbatha, the manager in the Office of the uThukela Mayor, was gunned down in his driveway in the Hospital Park area.

Then, on Sunday night, a man was ambushed and shot at the intersection of Fairclough Road and Ben Schoeman Street while travelling in his vehicle. Unknown gunmen, who had been waiting, opened fire on the car with high-caliber assault rifles.

The 49-year-old deceased is believed to be a taxi owner.

Social media has been abuzz after the recent shootings. Many people are wondering what has become of the sanctity of life, as cold-blooded killers seem to think nothing of taking lives in order to further their own agenda, whatever that may be.

“Gunmen seem to be taking the law into their own hands, leaving the person in the street to question just how safe he or she is in the supposed sanctuary of their own home,” said a woman who stays near the hospital. (She asked not to be named)
