Watch: Parkrun fun takes Ladysmith by storm

It was a tough yet beautiful race, with rain helping to cool down the runners

Ladysmith held its first-ever ‘parkrun’ on Saturday (November 5) at the Country Club. Parkrun is a free, weekly, 5km timed run/walk that takes place around the world every Saturday at 8am.

374 runners turned up for the inaugural Ladysmith ‘parkrun’.

Comrades multiple winner Bruce Fordyce was there to encourage people to participate, from walkers to those taking their first steps in running; to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience; young and old; all were welcome.

And they’re off… For some it was a slow start and for others a race to beat the Comrades icon.

Bruce stressed the importance of registering and geting your own number and barcode.

Those who ran without a barcode did not receive their race time.
