Close to a quarter of a million homes again without water

Water levels have been built up and water is being pumped out to consumers

Close to 250,000 homes are again without water… Taps have been dry since after lunch today (November 19).

Homeowners were caught off-guard, with no notifications sent out by uThukela District Municipality of water interruptions for the day. Residents in the affected areas are furious, having knocked off work and finding that their homes are without running water.

Residents receiving water from the Ezakheni Water Treatment Plant have been affected.

uThukela carried out emergency maintenance at the Ezakheni Bulk Water Works last weekend, resulting in residents of Ezakheni, Acaciavale and Aloe Park being without water from Friday through to Monday.

According to uThukela PRO Jabulani Mkhonza, “Water pressure at the plant is very low, hence no water supply. Our engineers are building up water levels at the Ezakheni Plant in their attempts to restore the supply.”

The latest news is that water levels have been built up and water is being pumped out to consumers. It should be expected that some areas will have water quicker than others, depending on the geographical location of the area.
