Vryheid dealership supports learners at Inkanyiso Special School

MMG Ford Vryheid donates non-perishable food to Inkanyiso Special School, supporting learners with special needs.

MMG Ford Vryheid recently visited Inkanyiso Special School as part of Ford South Africa’s global initiative aimed at supporting education and empowering local communities through meaningful outreach programmes.

The dealership received a warm welcome from the school’s staff and learners before handing over non-perishable food items to school management. The donation will help support the school’s needs, with learners set to benefit most from the contribution.

Supporting learners with special needs

Inkanyiso Special School was established in 1993 and caters for learners with special needs, including those with severe and profound intellectual disabilities, hearing and visual impairments, autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy.

MMG Ford Vryheid dealership principal Marc Lilje explained that the initiative forms part of Ford’s annual global fundraising efforts, which encourage dealerships to give back to the communities they serve.

“Ford does this every year through a worldwide fundraising initiative. Dealerships then conduct community outreach programmes, visiting schools, children’s homes and old age homes to give back to vulnerable people in their communities.”

School welcomes community support

Acting principal of Inkanyiso Special School, Miss Ntombela, welcomed the donation, saying it would make a huge difference to the school and its learners.

“As the school management, we welcome these donations with warm hearts. They will make a real difference and add to what we already have. We appreciate MMG Ford and the Vryheid community at large for this wonderful gesture.”

Ntombela also appealed to other organisations, businesses and individuals to support the school in any way they could, saying that every contribution makes a difference.

“We also appeal to other organisations, companies and individuals to support the school in whatever way they can. Every donation made to the school goes a long way.”

Lilje showed appreciation to Big 5 Milling, Car Track, Mysure and West End Water for sponsoring the initiative and making it a success.
