Mayor’s message for the festive season
Please do not drink and drive, as that may lead to your death and the unnecessary death of many other people

What a year this has been! Once again we are coming to the end of another successful year and we thank God for having blessed us and kept us this far.
As mayor of the newly-born Alfred Duma Local Municipality, I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every citizen of this municipality, all the stakeholders and organisations for having made this a great year and for the continued spirit of working together.
I would like to urge everyone who will be travelling this year to please do so safely and remember to stay safe on the roads.
The festive season usually has a very high volume of traffic on all major routes, and it is for this reason that I plead that we remain vigilant on the road. People also tend to consume alcohol and get behind the wheel. Please do not drink and drive, as that may lead to your death and the unnecessary death of many other people. 50% of road accidents are caused by drunken driving.
At this time, I would like to wish everything of the best to all the matriculants who will receive their results soon. Your hard work and dedication will surely show itself on the day you receive the results.
I wish to encourage those who won’t make it not to give up and continue to steer ahead on the roads leading to their success.
As this is a period of relaxation and family, I wish you all a pleasant rest and enjoy all the time with your families.
I would like to wish each and every one of you a safe and joyous festive season, with a Blessed and Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2017.
