Sewage floods family’s yard

“It has run to both the front door and back door, and the smell is awful. We just want the pipe to be repaired and the mess to be cleared.”

A burst sewerage pipe put a damper on the lives of a family living in Olifant Circle, Amajuba Park.

The pipe burst in their yard on Tuesday night, December 13.

“My husband reported it to the municipality early on Wednesday morning, December 14, and again during the afternoon,” said Karien van Niekerk.

However, by 4pm that afternoon, the yard was almost totally soiled, and it seemed as if Mr van Niekerk’s pleas for assistance had fallen on deaf ears.

“It has run to both the front door and back door, and the smell is awful. We just want the pipe to be repaired and the mess to be cleared,” Mrs van Niekerk said.

The municipality was contacted for comment, but none was forthcoming at the time of publication.
