Chained dog put down
The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is appealing to the community to please not chain up their dogs

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) and Alfred Duma Local Municipality went out to the Acaciavale area recently after receiving phone calls to say that a crossbreed dog was roaming the area, with a chain around its neck.
On arriving in the area, the dog was found in the street, starving and in a terrible condition. The owners of the dog had left town a while ago and had left the dog for dead!
Annamarie Koen, with tears in her eyes, told the Ladysmith Gazette that the chain was so tight around its neck that you could see its flesh. It was terribly skinny.
Neighbours would go and feed the dog, also putting water down for the helpless animal.
The league, together with the municipality, removed the dog and put it down due to the terrible condition it was in.
The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) is appealing to the community to please not chain up their dogs. This is illegal and offenders will be fined and / or charged if they are found to be doing so.
