Dundee residents have been warned to prepare for a scheduled power outage on Tuesday, August 25, as Eskom carries out planned maintenance.

The notice lists Thursday, August 27, as the alternative day.

Residents and businesses in Dundee will be without electricity from 9.30am to 4pm, according to a notice issued by Eskom and circulated by Endumeni Municipality.

The planned interruption is part of scheduled maintenance on the electricity network.

Residents urged to treat lines as live

Eskom has urged residents to treat all electrical installations and appliances as live throughout the outage, as power may be restored at any time without warning.

Residents are advised to switch off and unplug sensitive electronic equipment, including computers, televisions and refrigerators, before the outage to protect them from possible power surges when electricity is restored.

The notice also recommends that residents switch off their geyser circuit breakers to prevent damage or unwanted heating cycles when the power returns.

Those relying on alternative power systems, including solar inverters, backup batteries and generators, are advised to ensure their systems are adequately prepared.
