Vlekkie takes district bowls play-off honours

Bowlers saw out 2016 and saw in 2017 on the green!

Old Year’s Eve saw 26 people take to the bowling green and what a delightful night it was. Bowlers saw out 2016 and saw in 2017 on the green! To all who contributed to the evening and to all those visitors who came down and joined in the fun, thank you and be assured that this will be an annual event.

This past weekend saw the club hosting the KZNCB District Singles play-offs. Twenty-four bowlers took the greens and there was some awesome bowls was played.

Congratulations to these players who won their respective sections. Senior men: Vlekkie Visser from Zululand, runner-up, Trevor Smale from Northerns; Senior Ladies: Magriet Coetzee from Midlands, runner-up, Veronica Malan from Midlands; Open Ladies: Anita Scott from Zululand, runner-up, Fran Baleri from Midlands and Open Men: Braam Van Zyl from Midlands, runner-up, Barry Mutlow from Zululand.

The Fed Auto business league gets underway on January 26. All team captains, get your teams ready for an exciting next few rounds. On Friday afternoons, sunset bowls is played so come and roll a few. Those needing any help or coaching, just shout and you will be assisted. All members to take note of the following dates and to check the notice board for more details: January 28-29: Novice Singles and on February 18-19: Nominated mixed pairs.
