Illegal dumping takes over vacant land

There was once a large 'No Dumping' sign, but over the years that has been covered by all the refuse

Residents of Daffodil Crescent are currently facing an endless problem of illegal dumping on vacant land in the street.

Residents say they have been facing this problem for numerous years now. They add that the land was cleaned up once before, but never again.

People can be seen dumping their household and garden refuse, which is piling up.

There was once a large ‘No Dumping’ sign on the vacant land, but over the years that has been covered by all the refuse that has been dumped there and the sign cannot be seen anymore.

The refuse has spread from the vacant land onto the road. This makes driving along the road very difficult, as motorists have to stop and wait for other vehicles to pass to avoid driving over the waste. Driving over the refuse can easily cause a puncture or damage the rim of a vehicle.

The rain the town has had over the past few weeks has caused the grass to grow out of hand, compounding the problem.

Residents are asking when the area will be cleared up and measures taken so that no illegal dumping takes place again. At the moment, the vacant land is an eyesore for residents and motorists alike.

Residents want the problem to be sorted out once and for all.
