Water restrictions still in place despite rain
The current level of Spioenkop, and the fact that the rivers are fairly low, still leaves Ladysmith in a vulnerable position
Despite the rain we have been having during the last few weeks, water restrictions are still in effect for Ladysmith.
Even with the level of Spioenkop Dam having increased by almost 10% since January 1, the recent rainfall has not been sufficient to take us out of the danger zone. The current level of Spioenkop, and the fact that the rivers are fairly low, still leaves Ladysmith in a vulnerable position.
As a result, water restrictions have not been lifted.
Speaking to Water Services Deputy Manager Glen Singh, he says uThukela urges consumers to use water cautiously and sparingly until Ladysmith is out of the danger zone we are currently in.
