Multiple vehicle pile-up on Van Reenen’s Pass near Ladysmith
Both the north and southbound lanes were closed to traffic, as emergency personnel treated the five people who were injured and cleared the scene
A multi-vehicle pile-up took place this afternoon (January 27) on Van Reenen’s Pass near Ladysmith.
Three light motor vehicles and one truck were involved in the crash, which caused huge traffic delays for motorists.
Both the north and southbound lanes were closed to traffic, as emergency personnel treated the five people who were injured and cleared the scene. Only slight injuries were sustained.
Sharaj Ambulance Services, RTI and breakdown services responded to the scene.
There was a huge traffic backlog, involving trucks and other vehicles.
Weather conditions and visibility is very poor heading up Van Reenen’s Pass, and motorists are advised to be cautious when travelling.
Spill Tech was called upon to carry out clean-up operations and apply absorbent on the road to avoid any other crashes.
The roadway has now been opened and traffic is flowing on the N3 at Van Reenen’s Pass.
