‘Young life taken too soon’
Jermaine Lite was known to all as a socialite, always bubbly and a young man who displayed great respect
The Estcourt community has been rattled and left reeling with shock after the sad news of a young life taken too soon. 26-year-old, Jermaine Lite was pronounced dead on scene after being involved in a light motor vehicle accident, which overturned on the Ntabamhlophe Road at about 9:22pm on February 4.
The vehicle had four other occupants, one being Jermaine’s cousin who drove the vehicle. He sustained life-threating injuries, while two other passengers were critically injured. The fifth occupant is surviving the impact of the accident.
The cause of the crash is currently unknown.
Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp have been flooded with messages offering condolences and comfort to the Lite family. Most posts echo each another saying, the young life was taken too soon.
Jermaine was born in Cape Town and attended Estcourt Primary and Estcourt Secondary schools. He was known to all as a socialite, always bubbly and a young man who displayed great respect. The young lad was well-known in the community and will be sadly missed by all his friends and loved ones.
He is survived by his mother and father, to who he was their only child, his three-year-old son, two year-old daughter, long-time girlfriend, step- father and step-sister as well as his grandmother.
“I would thank the community for the outpouring of support shown towards our family during this difficult time. We appreciate every hug, every handshake and contribution made,” said his mother Edwina with gratitude.
Police spokesperson, Captain Charmaine Struwig confirmed that Estcourt police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
Jermaine Lite’s funeral will take place on Saturday, February 11 at St Mathews Anglican Church. The Estcourt News offers its condolences to the family and friends.
