Midi-bus overturns on the N3 injuring 21

'The patients later told paramedics that the tyre had apparently burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle'

Friday morning got off to a near-fatal start for passengers in a midi-bus travelling along the N3. At about 6.55am about 10km from the Bergville Plaza, vehicle swerved out of control and toppled onto its side.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene and found the midi-bus lying on its side on the side of the road. The passengers had already climbed out of the bus and were found walking around on the scene,” commented ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.

After assessing the passengers, paramedics found that 21 people had sustained moderate to minor injuries.

“Paramedics treated the patients and transported 16 to Estcourt Hospital for further treatment. Five other patients were removed privately, to a nearby hospital. The patients later told paramedics that the tyre had apparently burst, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle,” added Mr Meiring.
