Important notice to Dundee swimming club
Dundee swimming club annual general meeting is to take place in Dundee at the hall behind the pool on the March 29 at 6pm. Please come and support your child. A new committee needs to selected, however, the old committee would like to thank everyone for their support during this season.
Sport vs St Dominics
Girls Hockey
On March 15, the first games of the hockey season did not disappoint. The second team performed exceptionally well with a stellar score of 3-0. The first team had a good game with the team coming together beautifully in the last half. Although there were many more opportunities to score, the girls could not capitalise, and only scored one goal. Well done to both teams on a victorious start to the season.The Spartans would like to thank Rob and Sharon Burns of Rabco for once again sponsoring them with a new beautiful kit. Boys Hockey
Dundee High School had their first league game of the 2017 season. For the first team it was tough and the team really wanted to make amends for losing against St Dominics in the finals of the pre-season tournament. It was not to be that St Dominics outplayed and out planned DHS, they scored two goals and DHS boys could just not penetrate their defence. After a hard game of four quarters, DHS could not score one goal. Well done on your perseverance boys!
DHS ‘s second team won their game 1-0 against St Dominics’ second. The school is proud of the way the guys stood their ground. Thank you also to Marelie Kelbrick for coaching them.

Netball
DHS played extremely well against St Dominics who tried their best. The first team won 39-2, the second team won 18-4 and the u/15 team won 18-4. Thandolwethu Biyela and Ziyanda Ngwane were both awarded ‘players of the match’ for their games.
Rotary Team Talk Competition
Last Wednesday, March 15, Lizwi Khumalo, Keshmiel Govender and Muzi Sithole were part of a team that was selected to represent Dundee High School in the second round of the Rotary Team Talk Competition held at St Catherine’s School in Empangeni. Rotary Team Talk focuses on the issues that our communities face and how they can be solved with the aim of finding positive and practical solutions.
Lizwi, Keshmiel, and Muzi chose the topic, ‘the Street Children in Dundee’. They developed their topic logically and presented mature and practical solutions. Dundee High was one of four schools that took part in the round. The adjudicators praised the boys for their skills as public speakers and also in their understanding of the topic they had chosen. Empangeni High came first and will be going to the semi-finals in Richards Bay, Dundee High was a close second. Well done boys, the school is very proud of you!
Cordwalles Mudman
On March 19 the Cordwalles Mudman took place. Nineteen learners took part and did very well. Gabby Carter did exceptionally well by winning the first u/18. She was also the Overall Mudman Series winner. Well done Gabby!

Umzinyathi Boys Hockey
The u/18 Umzinyathi Boys Hockey team played on March 18 and 19. They won three out of the four matches with 13 goals for them and only two against them. The guys from Wembley College, Hermannsburg and Dundee High played well together and it was a very good team effort from them. Congratulations boys!
One tough rugby girl
Slindile Zuma has been selected for the NKZN Rugby Union Girls Sharks Team. She will be participating in the team for the third consecutive year. The first matches will start in June and she will be playing position nine and 10. DHS is proud of her and wishes her all the best.
DHS girl boxes her way to gold
Hope Mkhize represented KZN at the Interprovincial Boxing Tournament against the Eastern Cape Province. She received a gold medal for her weight group. Good job Hope!
