Short-snouted grass snake found outside Ladysmith home
After a tiring hour and a half's work, the snake was finally removed from beneath the stoep

A short-snouted grass snake was recently found in Clarendon Road.
Concerned residents saw the snake on the stoep of their home and contacted snake man Fanie Cilliers, who responded to the scene with his son Sean.
By the time they arrived, the snake had made its way under the stoep, making it very difficult for Fanie and Sean to get to it.
Fanie obtained permission from the homeowners to demolish the stoep in order to get to the “unwelcome intruder”.

After a tiring hour and a half’s work, the snake was finally removed.
Fanie and Sean say, “This snake was beautiful and made the catch worth it, even though it took so long. The main thing is that the snake was removed safely.”
Fanie added that a short-snouted grass snake is mildly venomous and feeds on lizards, rodents and birds. It is a very alert snake and is considered to be fast-moving.
