Concerns over electricity price

"We are finding it harder to cope, because we are spending more money on electricity than ever before."

Sibusiso Andreas Thango writes:

I am Mr Thango, the chairperson of NFP at Ward 19 eMondlo Block C.

We would like to raise our concern about the purchasing of electricity units. It looks like the municipality is ripping us off. When you buy electricity of R20, you get 11 units. And they cut off the allowance to indigents, even those who are pensioners. No one has taken a stand from the municipality, to inform us as community. If there is any change, we deserve to be informed by the municipality because this thing has never happened before to those who belong to this municipality. We urge this coalition to put people as their first priority. They need to sit down and discuss this issue if they care about people. Electricity is very important to the people. We are finding it harder to cope, because we are spending more money on electricity than ever before.
