Woman shot – boyfriend arrested
The man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition
A 32-year-old woman was shot and injured, allegedly by her boyfriend. Ntabamhlophe police were called to the Gcinusizi area on Sunday when residents complained of a man brandishing a firearm.
“They rushed to the scene to discover that the man had shot and injured his girlfriend. She sustained an injury to her arm,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
An intensive search was immediately launched for the 32-year-old man who was quickly traced and arrested.
“The firearm that was used during the shooting was also recovered by the officers and was determined to be unlicensed,” added Captain Struwig.
The man has been charged with attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlicensed ammunition. He appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
