Four residents from Ladysmith are among those reported missing after devastating flash floods swept through parts of Nepal on Wednesday, August 26, leaving families thousands of kilometres away desperately waiting for news of their loved ones.

Their reported disappearance has left relatives, friends and members of the Ladysmith community deeply worried as a massive search-and-rescue operation continues.

Family and friends lost contact with the four missing residents (the names of the missing are known to us) on the day of the tragedy.

For families back home, the hours since the devastating floods hit Nepal have become an agonising wait.

Family and friends are hopeful that they will be contacted by their missing family members.

According to The Citizen, “Six South Africans are among hundreds of foreign nationals missing after deadly flash floods hit the Nepal-Tibet border.

“The floods, triggered by a glacial collapse, have left hundreds dead and thousands missing in Nepal’s Rasuwa district and parts of Tibet.”
