46-year-old Ladysmith woman flung out of moving taxi

The woman's leg and knee were injured, and she is using crutches to move around

A 46-year-old Ladysmith woman is lucky to be alive after falling out of a moving taxi.

The lady was returning home from the clinic, travelling along Azalea Drive, when the door of the taxi suddenly flew open.

She recalls, “I was sitting in the front passenger seat and as the taxi turned, the door opened by itself and I was flung out.”

The woman injured her leg and knee, and is using crutches to get around because she cannot put pressure on her leg at all. She says her knee is very swollen due to the injuries she sustained.

Neighbours and family members of the injured woman now urge other people using taxis to be careful and vigilant of just how safe the vehicles are, so as to avoid being seriously injured if something like this should happen again.

An accident report will be opened by both the injured woman and the taxi owner to address the situation.
