The 68-year-old man who was kidnapped this morning (October 19) during an armed robbery at a courier company opposite a hostel in the Egerton area has been found alive.

It is believed the robbers dropped off the elderly man along the side of the road in the Greytown area, before speeding off.

The elderly man made his way to a nearby police station and alerted police of his horrific ordeal.

Police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig confirmed that police received information that the employee has been found in the Greytown area.

This morning, several heavily-armed men stormed into the courier company and held a 68-year old man (employee) at gunpoint, robbing the business of over R1.5m worth of goods from a warehouse.

The group of armed men then fled the scene in four vehicles, kidnapping the elderly employee.

According to eyewitnesses, a green double-cab with ND registration, two Toyota Fortuners (SUVs) with NKR registration and a white Audi (registration unknown) were used as getaway vehicles.

Police are investigating a case of business robbery and kidnapping.
