MMA: Cage fighters take the fight to Durban

The Twinkle Toes MMA Team made its début in the cage at MFC Dojo Amateurs, in Durban.

An octagonal metal cage is the modern day arena for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) warriors.

On October 14, the Twinkle Toes MMA Team made its début in the cage at MFC Dojo Amateurs, in Durban.

Konrad “Twinkle Toes” Erasmus participated in a grappling match, which he dominated from the onset and won according to the judges decision.

Erasmus was meant to take part in the Klerksdorp Fight Night 06 on September 30. However, the fight was moved to October 7.

Konrad’s opponent then withdrew a week before the event, and as a replacement could not be found, the match was cancelled.

His team mate, Jacques Bodenstein participated in an MMA match. He immediately took charge, and beat his opponent via a submission move after only 40 seconds.

The third member of the team, Quintin van Tonder, entered a grappling match.

Despite withstanding two submission attempts, and after an excellent performance, he sadly lost points.

Ecstatic about their results, the three contenders extended their thanks to Hendrik Booyse for assisting them in kickboxing, Jacques Bodenstein for helping with boxing and fitness aspects, and also their personal trainer Piero Zanone.

The Twinkle Toes Team will be competing at the MFC Ground Quest in Durban, on November 11.
