Congolese man shot dead, girlfriend kidnapped and dumped

His girlfriend was pistol-whipped and loaded into Mr Mulamba’s vehicle

A Congolese national was shot dead last night and his girlfriend kidnapped and later dumped on the Helpmekaar road.
Police said the man, Waswa Mulamba (26), and his girlfriend, not named by police, were called to an open field opposite Dundee Junior School at about 10.30pm last night.
It is not clear yet as to why or how called them to travel to that area at that time of night.
They were approached by two Zulu speaking men who opened fire on Mr Mulamba who died on the scene.
His girlfriend was pistol-whipped and loaded into Mr Mulamba’s vehicle – a gold coloured Polo with a GP registration number.

They drove on the Helpmekaar road where she was left. She later managed to flag down a passing vehicle and call for help.
She was taken to the police station whose members rushed to the park where they found the body of Mr Mulamba. His home address was given as 37 A Colley Street.
Sources told the Courier that the motive behind the murder could be drug related.
