WEATHER WARNING: Severe thunderstorms expected for KZN this afternoon
SAWS said severe thunderstorms were expected across the province this afternoon.

Don’t be fooled by the sunshine and cool breeze; the South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a weather warning for KwaZulu-Natal.
SAWS said severe thunderstorms were expected across the province this afternoon.
These storms could result in hail and strong winds in the uThukela, Amajuba, Zululand and uMzinyathi regions.
SAWS advised residents to practice the following precautions:
- When you hear thunder, go indoors; avoid metal objects and avoid outdoor sport during the storm.
- Disconnect electrical appliances.
- In heavy rains, stay indoors and off the roads; avoid crossing rivers and streams where the water level is above your ankles.
- Never drive on a road submerged by water.
- If the vehicle stalls, leave it immediately and seek higher ground.
- Be especially cautious at night when it’s harder to recognise flood warning signs.
