Lone fighter Shirley Bujram killed in car crash
Mzwakhe Sithebe, of the Endumeni Civic Association, a long time friend of the Bujram family, told the Courier that the death of Shirley has left him 'without words'.
Shirley Bujram, who fought a brave fight to bring justice those she believed were behind the plot to kill her activist husband, Grishen, was killed last night in a car crash.
Details of the crash are still sketchy but it is understood that the accident occurred on the Greytown road. Shirley was working at the Endumeni Municipality at the time of her death but had been sick for some time.
Shirley had only been let out of Dundee Hospital on Tuesday. On Monday she spoke to the Courier to again register her disappoint that the long drawn-out case against Thandeka Nukani was again delayed in Court after neither her (Nukani’s) attorney nor the presiding officer was available.
The case against Ms Nukani, a former Endumeni Mayor, has been going on for years. She was initially acquitted of the 2007 murder of Grishen, who was shot dead in Sibongile, but the a charge of conspiracy to commit murder was opened after an allegation that she had attempted to poison her nephew, Siyabonga Nukani, who is currently serving jail time for his role in the murder.
Ms Nukani’s boyfriend, Bongani Shangase, was also jailed for the murder.

Mr Bujram was shot dead in his car after he had apparently uncovered an RDP housing scandal in Dundee.
Mzwakhe Sithebe, of the Endumeni Civic Association, a long time friend of the Bujram family, told the Courier that the death of Shirley has left him ‘without words’.
The Endumeni Civic Association has served court papers on the Endumeni Municipality, KZN Human Settlement Department and the National Department of Human Settlements.
It is alleged that many of the houses have been allocated to family members of municipal officials, relatives of the housing committee and other politically connected beneficiaries at the expense of those who have been left off the housing list.
